Warriors Heart Marks the Spot

The mileage clock on my bicycle's odometer clicked to 1,499.76 yesterday as I wheeled into Bandera, TX and onto the Warriors Heart complex. That's significant for two reasons: To ride a bike halfway across the country is one thing. To see first-hand the remarkable work being done at Warriors Heart is quite another. The organization is grouped on 550 acres in the Texas Hill country north of San Antonio. It houses 60 beds for military and first responders to receive treatment from the ill effects of PTSD and alcohol and drug dependency. Dave and I are spending a day and a half here to meet the staff and mingle with patients, all of whom are grateful for the professional healing they are receiving at WH.
