What's a Buzz Ponce?

I'm a boomer -- straight outta the San Diego area where I grew up amid avocado groves and a post World War II tranquility.

In high school, my yearbook teacher claimed he detected an undisciplined writing style that might, he said, pass muster with the equally undisciplined readers of high school yearbooks. With no one else wanting the job, I was named a co-editor. From there my writing career stalled for about 50 years until I wrote and published my first book Finding Frank: Full Circle in a Life Cut Short, soon followed by the semi-autobiographical A Long Ride Coming

Before retiring in 2011, I taught high school journalism for eight years and had a career as a sales rep and regional manager for two school yearbook printing companies for 31 years.

Now happily and deeply ensconced as a retiree, I live in Fountain Hills, Arizona with my wife Susan and two rescued dogs -- Henry and Ivy.

Squeezed among Rotary Club involvement, a little traveling and spoiling the grand kids,  I ride a bicycle.

     Sometimes for long distances.

The beginning of the end: the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco, September 12, 2015 -- where I began and ended a 1,900 bike ride.
