A LONGER RIDE COMING

Back in 2015 when I completed a lengthy bicycle trip which was the inspiration for A Long Ride Coming, I had every intention of never going on another marathon journey. Peddling 1,900 miles down the entire Pacific Coast from Canada to Mexico was enough for me. Or so I thought at the time.

    I should have known better.

I should have known when such a bicycle ride is accomplished, a vice-like grip can tighten. Like a spoonful of rocky road ice cream, once taken, a craving will develop.

By 2016 the rush of another long bike ride enveloped. In a kind of  haze, I began to map out a bicycle trip that could be epic on two levels. First, by the time I finished the 3,100 mile, eight-week route from California to Florida in July, I was a bonafide septuagenarian, a certifiable golden oldie.

But most significantly, the journey's  purpose was  to give to an extraordinary cause. Click on the Donate page to contribute directly to the bicycle trip fundraiser. All donations -- 100% -- go to the Warriors Heart Foundation.

The goal for this long bicycle ride was not to bring attention to a geezer peddling his way across the country. The goal was to raise awareness and funds for one of the most worthy causes imaginable: treatment and hope for this country's wounded warriors.
